Beth Herbert (bethwa creative)
Photographic Artist
With an illustrative, design and oil pastel background, I became intrigued by the different effects that were venturing into the photographic realm. Experimenting with light, colour, composition, and perspective, I like to create a unique take on traditional photography.
Raised on the influences of Impressionist painting from my artist Father and growing up immersed in the arts and cultural hub of Fremantle, Western Australia, my photographs have subconsciously taken on an impressionist feel in their own right becoming a revolutionary diversion from traditional photography.
Now living near Sydney and having just completed a Sociology thesis which focused on the subculture of skate punk, I continues to search for and discover the ways in which aesthetic beauty is represented and found in every day life…whether it be in nature, or the skate, surf and musical creative spheres that surround me.
My prints represent a unique sociological and photographic art perspective… an alternative to the norm, focusing on atmosphere, the vibe, and the mediation of personal emotion and reasoning.
